Solving agriculture’s toughest genetic puzzles

We develop crops that are more resilient, productive, and adapted to a changing world by uncovering traits traditional methods overlook.

Why this matters

  • Many crops like banana, cassava, and grapevine are clonally propagated.

  • Over time, they accumulate hidden mutations that add genetic complexity.

  • This makes traditional breeding slow and challenging.

  • Disease pressures and climate change are intensifying the challenge.

  • Unlocking this hidden diversity is essential for resilient, high-performing crops.

Our Technology

High-Resolution Allele Discovery (Hi-ReAD) combines whole-genome sequencing with a proprietary algorithm built for clonally propagated crops. It identifies causal genetic variants by accounting for somatic mutations and meristem layer-specific effects.

Unlike traditional approaches, Hi-ReAD works effectively with small, well-characterised samples, avoiding the need for large breeding populations, which are often slow, costly, or impractical in clonal crops.
